I’m so excited to introduce you to this Friday’s #WeekendWarrior! Meet Karin. She’s an awesome adventurer out in Colorado. She’s also a brand ambassador for CCL. She has been with us from the very beginning, and sharing all her rad adventures with us! She definitely makes a good case for moving to Colorado over on her Instagram! Go check out her feed, but first…
1. Where did your love of the great outdoors come from, & what does it do for you?
It wasn’t until my sophomore year of college that I really started to get outside. I had always wanted to before, but didn’t really know where to start. I started dating this guy who opened the doors for me, and got me into hiking and all your basic Colorado adventuring. I just never stopped after that. The great outdoors had me hooked.
For me, being outside honestly fills my soul like nothing else can. It gives me a chance to be a wide-eyed kid again; so excited for the new surroundings at every corner. The mountains are my muse, and I love doing photo projects based on the peaks around me. I go out for the feeling of accomplishment and wonder when I summit a mountain. I go out for the tranquility of being the first one awake with the frost, clouds rolling across the lake.
I remember all the times with loved ones; from laughs to deep chats around the fire with friends, or skiing an epic pow day with my mom, or running through the forest with boys who I’m just smitten with. Those are the memories that I’ll carry with me forever.
2. What does weekend warrior mean to you?
Being a weekend warrior, to me, means that I have something to look forward to to get me through my week. In college, I would go on adventure Friday every Friday… no matter the weather. There was always something to do.
I’ve tried my best to keep some kind of adventure *insert weekend day here*, even with busy work schedules and the demands of working full time. I’m lucky to live in Colorado, where the greatest outdoor playground just happens to be in my back yard.
3. Where is your next adventure?
I just got back from a weekend in Washington, where I whale watched (and unfortunately saw no whales) and explored the coast just outside Bellingham, WA.
Next I am headed to Steamboat for a winter weekend with my boyfriend and a few of his friends!
Thank you so much for sharing, Karin! I didn’t have a love and appreciation for the outdoors until college either! It doesn’t matter when it happens, as long as it does, right? Happy adventuring Campers! See you on the trails!
